Color:
Brilliant shines a bright yellow, reminiscent of white gold with a clear shine.
Nose:
Justifiably slightly reserved about being opened at this point, this wine wants to be decanted first.
Citrusy and marked by the immense, precise herbal spice inherent in Idig, this is simply brilliance. Fresh subtle aromas of kumquats, coriander root, basil flowers and lemon verbena. In addition to white flowers we daisies and many dancing light-footed fragrant notes also appear depth bringing flavors of meringue, freshly baked lemon tart, bay leaf and white pepper.
Palate:
Brilliance is the motto that runs through. Straightforward, drawn out by vibrant acidity and a masterfully sparse, stony finish, this Riesling looks neither left nor right. This 2014 Großes Gewächs is an unadulterated rendition of the Idig site through the medium of Riesling.
Should be hidden in the cellar for 3-5 years to let it grow to its true greatness.
