Wine Description for Guix Vermell 2018 by Terroir Sense Fronteres

Colour & Appearance
Dense, sparkling cherry red with impressive depth and brilliance in the glass.
Nose
A manifesto of elegance: dark, cool, weightless. The Garnacha Fina reveals its aristocratic face here with blackberry, cassis and blackcurrants. These are joined by tar, leather and liquorice, whilst olives, rosemary and juniper add Mediterranean accents. White pepper and an almost bloody note recall great Syrah from the northern Rhône – timeless, precise, never out of fashion.
Palate
Gripping yet refined: the wine fills the mouth with captivating, fine-grained tannin and impressive pressure. It coats the palate almost silkily, fleshy and juicy at once. The Mediterranean spice comes through powerfully without ever feeling heavy. This balance of darkness, coolness and elegance is positively addictive.
Finish
Long and appetising with subtle roasted aromas that immediately evoke thoughts of the grill. The spice and tannin carry far.
Terroir & Origin
From the top vineyard site Montalts in direct proximity to the legendary Les Manyes, only on the Montsant side of the appellation. The terroir brings forth that coolness and finesse which Dominik Huber and Tatjana Peceric have elevated to philosophy.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Garnacha Fina, regarded as the pinnacle in La Figuera. Ageing in concrete and clay rather than wood – a deliberate choice for freshness and precision. Only 1,600 bottles in the 2018 vintage.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Lamb loin with chimichurri and roasted sweet potatoes, roast beef with Mediterranean vegetable medley and rosemary potatoes, or beetroot baked in salt crust with basil pesto and grilled feta for the vegetarian option.
Special Features
The new project by Terroir Sense Fronteres follows the Burgundian three-tier system: region, village, Grand Cru. The Guix Vermell represents the Grand Cru level – a wine that demonstrates Garnacha can achieve greatness without heaviness and alcohol. A „little black dress“ among Spain’s red wines.
