Wine information
Alongside Banyuls, Madeira, Marsala and Port, an equally traditional fortified and oxidised wine has almost been forgotten. It is the Fondillón from Alicante. Artadis El Sequé Dulce is a homage to this style of wine, which is vinified exclusively from overripe Monastrell. At Artadi, however, it is not a wine oxidized over weeks, so no "tawny" but the exact opposite, a "ruby". The hand-picked ripe Monastrell grapes were pre-fermented in a cool place for two days and then fermented for four days until the fermentation was stopped with pure alcohol. This gave the wine 18.5 % alcohol and 108 grams of sugar.
Color
dense cherry red with ruby reflections
Nose
This wine captivates you from the first moment, combining freshness with a complex and sensual interplay of dark fruit such as black cherries, plums, figs and wild berries with the balsamic scent of precious woods and saddle leather. In addition, there are notes of cherry liqueur and Black Forest kirsch, a hint of bitter orange marmalade and liquorice.
Mouth
The palate shows how excellent Monastrell is for this kind of wine. Because despite all maturity and sweetness, there is a brilliant acid structure in this wine, which gives it an excellent freshness. In addition to the freshness, there are always tart notes reminiscent of orange peel. At the same time, the wine is rich, opulent, silky and sensual, and you actually always want more of it.
