Wine Description for Les Terres Mêlées Brut Nature 2020 by de Bichery
- Colour & Appearance
- A vibrant golden yellow with delicate copper reflexes and a fine, persistent perlage.
- Nose
- The bouquet is engaging and complex. Aromas of ripe morello cherry, wild strawberries and a hint of dried herbs dominate, underpinned by a subtle, smoky note that bears witness to the ageing in Burgundian barrique.
- Palate
- On the palate, “Burgundy with bubbles” reveals itself. This Champagne breaks with the conventional expectation of austere Brut Nature styles; it is juicy, full-bodied and enormously wine-like. The texture is creamy yet precise, carried by a ripe acidity and a dense fruit concentration that recalls redcurrants and brioche.
- Finish
- Long, powerful and with a remarkable grip. The finale remains persistent and leaves behind a fine mineral trace as well as an invigorating freshness that compels you to take another sip.
- Terroir & Origin
- Hailing from the Côte des Bar, shaped by the biodynamic approach of Raphaël and Hannah Piconnet on chalky clay soils.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- Pure Pinot Noir, which draws its strength from fully ripe grapes. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel, partly in wood, followed by ageing in barriques. Unfined, unfiltered and bottled without dosage.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- An ideal companion to robust dishes such as roasted quail, sweetbreads with morels or a mature Comté.
- Special Characteristics
- A craftsman-made radical Champagne with minimal sulphur use, which unites the depth of a great still wine with the elegance of the finest bubbles.
