Color
Garnet red with a brick-colored rim, the wine shows almost completely clear with a silky sheen and a slightly translucent core.
Nose
Pronounced expressiveness in the form of peppery spice is in this bright red wine. On a red-fruited, yet barren and stony land of Golden Delicious apple skin, rooibos and honeybush tea, as well as plum and sea buckthorn, spicy aromas range from rosemary, thyme and sage to allspice and Japanese mountain pepper, nutmeg and bay leaf.
Palate
The first appearance of the single-varietal 2015 Alicante Nero from Agricola Ampeleia is characterized by fresh-fruity juiciness and drinkable vitality. The bright berry red fruit is exuberantly supported by a straightforwardly lively acidic arc, while a tightly woven yet polished and velvety tannin structure lends the wine the appropriate body in its elegant stature. This Mediterranean interpretation of a Grenache Noir tells of drinking pleasure and the lightness of being, made possible by self-confident seriousness.
