Tasting note

Colour & Appearance
Medium, slightly muted cherry red with distinct lightening towards the rim.
Nose
On the nose, Alpine freshness meets Burgundy: bright fruit notes of sour cherry, redcurrant, young plum and fine raspberry jam meet a delicate note of cedarwood, paired with nuances of cinnamon and white coffee. A complex scent full of playful youthfulness.
Palate
On the palate, the Pinot Noir shows itself to be immensely stimulating and taut. The cool balance of the Alpine region merges with depth. The wine presents itself in a wonderfully fresh, slightly undeveloped stage that builds up enormous tension.
Terroir & Origin
Hails from the single vineyard site “Mason” above Egna (Neumarkt). The south-sloping high plateau at an altitude of 400 to 450 metres is sun-drenched and exposed to constant winds. The soil consists of sandy loam, interspersed with barren rock such as dolomite, porphyry, gneiss and granite. Count Michael Goëss-Enzenberg manages the estate in Caldaro (Kaltern) uncompromisingly according to strict Demeter guidelines.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Single-varietal Pinot Noir from the highest plots with the oldest vines in the vineyard. The harvest was pressed plot by plot and spontaneously fermented in wooden vats on native yeasts. Ageing took place for 16 months on the fine lees in barriques (only 20% new oak). Bottling in the magnum promises the best ageing prospects.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Pairs brilliantly with a Jerusalem artichoke salad with cranberries, but also with refined fish such as grilled sea bream with beetroot, olive oil and rosemary, as well as fillet of beef strips with wild herb salad, raspberries and raspberry vinegar.
Particularities
As a certified Demeter estate, Manincor relies on biodynamic cultivation and spontaneous skin fermentation. The Mason di Mason selects only the finest casks from the top plot – a Pinot Noir of Burgundian elegance with excellent ageing potential in the magnum bottle.
