Colour & Appearance

Bright, luminous straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections – a wine that announces its youthful freshness and vitality even at first glance.

Nose

Here the full mystique of the dark slate soil reveals itself. The fruit initially presents itself with restraint, almost shyly, whilst an intense herbal spice dominates: nettle, lemon balm, mint and coriander unfold with remarkable clarity. The sweetness typical of Kabinett remains aromatically almost invisible – instead, there is an almost meditative restraint that invites discovery.

Palate

A masterclass in finesse and energy. With merely 7.5% alcohol, this Riesling develops impressive dynamism. The 10.1 g/l acidity strikes like a whip – precise, cool, unrelentingly clear. The 55 g/l residual sugar appears considerably more subtle than the figures suggest and forms merely a delicate, sweet opening. What follows is a play lasting minutes of cool minerality, vibrant acidity and that herbal freshness that already captivated on the nose. The fruit remains pale and restrained – this wine does not seek to impress through opulence, but through its fascinating balance and enormous drinking pleasure.

Finish

Long, invigorating and characterised by herbal-fresh minerality. The acidity carries far without ever becoming aggressive – a finish that tempts you to take the next sip.

Terroir & Origin

The terraced steep vineyard site Enkircher Ellergrub on the Mosel is home to hundred-year-old ungrafted vines rooted in blue, hard slate with quartz inclusions. The vines for this Kabinett stand in the lower, water-bearing part of the vineyard – a deliberate choice for finesse over concentration. The extreme yield of merely 15 hl/ha speaks for itself.

Grape Variety & Vinification

Riesling, fermented in large wooden casks, then aged in stainless steel tanks – a classic Mosel vinification that places purity and precision at the forefront.
