Info about the expansion
Handpicked, followed by 5 hours of gentle pressing and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel.
Info about the situation
This is a special place in the Mäushöhle. The vineyards extend over several old sandstone terraces directly to the edge of the forest. One has in this south-east slope a fantastic view over the Rhine plain to the Black Forest.A valley incision brings also still the evening sun on this higher situated parcel
The soil consists of poor sandy red sandstone, which only allows yields of 35hl/ha.
Colour
Delicate golden yellow with green reflections.
Nose
The 2018 Riesling Mäushöhle am Kirchberg has mineral depth and demands the decanter to show itself. With the necessary oxygen, its yellow-fruited aromas of apricot, orange and citrus emerge, intermixed with fresh herbs and distinct ginger and verbena. It seems almost shy and shines with a lot of minerality and elegant restraint, patience is required with this fine drop.
Palate
On the palate, it is extremely juicy with ripe fruit and precise acidity, which is beautifully integrated into the fruit melt. This wine is permeated by a strand of minerality and stimulating spice in the finish. A long-distance runner, which shows itself already open at the palate, but which is pleased about a further storage to the development of his whole beauty.
