The Wachenheimer Odinstal lies at an altitude of up to 350m and is thus the highest single vineyard of the Mittelhaardt. The resulting somewhat cooler temperatures allow the grapes to ripen on a low flame. This results in very delicate, subtle aromas. The vineyards have been farmed organically since the early 90s, and biodynamically since 2006. Johann Ludwig Wolf, mayor of Wachenheim, built the Odinstal vineyard at the beginning of the 19th century. The Hensel family acquired the winery in 1998 and since then has uncompromisingly focused on quality and authenticity. The geological faults caused by the volcanic eruption at the Pechsteinkopf have led to the soils changing from mineral-rich basalt to mottled sandstone, shell limestone and Keuper in a very small area.
