Tasting note
- Colour & appearance
- Pale yellow with distinct green reflections – clear and youthful in the glass.
- Nose
- Fresh and uncomplicated: lemon, lime and green apple, joined by a streak of honeydew melon and the piquant edge of ginger. Beneath, cool slate notes shimmer through along with a hint of white pepper.
- Palate
- Light-footed, invigorating, almost dance-like. The interplay of delicate fruit sweetness and crisp acidity is spot on; at just 10% ABV, the wine remains slender and moreish without ever appearing thin.
- Finish
- Clean, citrus-mineral, with a refreshing aftertaste – the palate stays clear and ready for more.
- Terroir & origin
- Pressed from all the estate’s vineyard sites, above all Wolfer Sonnenlay, Enkircher Steffensberg and Trarbacher Schlossberg. The vines, averaging around 30 years of age, are rooted predominantly in the grey slate of the Middle Mosel – steep slopes where Weiser-Künstler carry out every task by hand.
- Grape variety & vinification
- Pure Riesling, gently pressed and spontaneously fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in traditional Mosel Fuder casks (1,000 litres) – entirely without fining or clarifying agents. The early bottling in April preserves the vintage’s unadorned freshness.
- Food recommendations
- A summery all-rounder: with asparagus in lemon butter, sushi and sashimi, ceviche, grilled zander or a light goat’s cheese salad. Equally delightful on its own on the terrace.
- Special features
- Behind this wine lies an unusual estate profile: career-changers Konstantin Weiser and Alexandra Künstler have been managing their four hectares entirely independently since 2005 – with over 80% ungrafted vines, some of them more than 100 years old. This estate Riesling comes from the younger parcels yet bears the very same signature: spontaneous fermentation, slate clarity, honest manual labour. An entry-level wine that shows just how much Mosel is possible for a modest sum.
