Wine Description for Qvinterra Riesling Trocken 2024 by Kühling-Gillot

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, intense lemon yellow with brilliant clarity – a visual promise of freshness and vitality.
Nose
Expressive and multi-layered, this estate wine presents itself beautifully: lemon and mandarin meet ripe apricot and peach, underpinned by crisp apples and pears. Subtle herbal notes and a hint of minerality lend depth and complexity to the aromatic profile.
Palate
Here the true class of this Riesling reveals itself: juicy, saline and blessed with remarkable drinkability. The bright, crisp fruit is carried by a precise acidity that never dominates but is perfectly integrated. A fine stony spice runs through the substantial body – this wine has substance without heaviness. The balance is exemplary: powerful yet elegant, demanding yet unpretentious.
Finish
Medium to long, with lingering freshness and a saline aftertaste that invites the next sip. The mineral character remains present.
Terroir & Origin
The “Qvinterra” concept – five terroirs – unites the finest vineyard sites from Oppenheim, Nierstein, Nackenheim, Bodenheim and Laubenheim. The foundation is primarily chalk and loess soils from Oppenheim, refined by a proportion of the characteristic Rotliegendes from the Nierstein and Nackenheim slopes – an intelligent assemblage that creates complexity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Riesling from organic and biodynamic cultivation. Following spontaneous fermentation, the wine was aged in stainless steel on fine lees – a purist vinification that allows fruit and terroir to shine unadulterated.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Versatile companion to sushi and sashimi, steamed fish, scallops, goat’s cheese, asparagus (white or green), Thai curries with coconut milk or simply as an aperitif.
Special Features
An estate wine that reaches far beyond its category – Kühling-Gillot impressively demonstrates that entry-level wines need not be simple. The combination of accessibility and sophistication is masterfully achieved here.
