Wine description for Petite Lily AOC 2022 from Château Climens
Colour & appearance
The Petite Lily presents itself in the glass in a light, bright straw yellow - clear, youthful and inviting.
Nose
What a refreshing surprise: this single-varietal Sémillon shows its liveliest side. The nose exudes aromas of white blossoms and green pears, combined with the freshness of Lemon sorbet and a touch of Lemon mint. Underneath lies discreetly that Waxy note, familiar to Sémillon connoisseurs - but used here with elegant restraint.
Palate
A fascinating field of tension unfolds on the palate: the wine is simultaneously juicy-fresh and voluminous-spicy. Notes from candied lemon peel, Apricot and Peach are characterised by subtle Toast and wax nuances accompanied. The acidity is typical of the variety, more silky than penetrating, yet present enough to give the wine vibrancy and drinkability. The stainless steel ageing perfectly preserves the youthful freshness - a deliberate stylistic decision that works. The finish remains clear, lively and animating.
General information
The Petite Lily comes from the youngest vineyards of the renowned Château Climens in Limestone floors and was used exclusively in the Stainless steel matured. With 12% alcohol, it is pleasantly light-footed - a Bordeaux Blanc Sec, which shows that Sémillon can also be young and light-hearted without losing its varietal character.
Food pairing suggestions
The versatility of this „wine for every occasion“ is evident at the table: perfect with Sushi, Fried scallops on pea puree or a Mild green Thai curry with crunchy vegetables. The balance between freshness and volume makes it the ideal accompaniment for light fish dishes and Asian cuisine.
Special features
A successful further development of the Climens portfolio: While the château is world-famous for its legendary sweet wines from Barsac, the Petite Lily proves that it also has class in the dry segment. A single-varietal Sémillon of this quality that can be drunk young is a real rarity in Bordeaux.
