Color
The wine shows a rich ruby red with garnet rim clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
This local blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent is carried by red berry fruit, especially crunchy cherry, in the hop step, slightly tobacco and peppery, but above all juicy. Enticingly red-fruited and underpinned by subtle herbal spice, the joyful essence of this invitation can be smelled and tasted; perceived. Not a powerhouse, but rather an encounter with a dapper bon vivant in harmony with himself and nature. Sophisticated simplicity is the focus of this cool red wine; because it is precisely simplicity that first needs to be skilful. "Simplicity is not simple."
Palate
Tightly woven yet velvety tannins provide a structured backbone and unsubstantial pull on the palate. Meanwhile, the fruit-laden aromatics of Heike and Gernot Heinrich's 2017 Naked Red puff up and are refreshed by a vibrant arc of acidity that owes much to the vintage, like biting into a self-picked blood orange.
Sophisticated simple; simple sophisticated.
Allow me, Naked Red, whoever toasts with me will be rewarded with lasting drunkenness.
The "desire-to-make-more" pours to linger....
