Colour scheme
A deep, saturated violet; the lace glows in subtle pastel shades.
Scent
The 2020 Blaufränkisch from Meinklang delivers sweet, refreshing fruit notes that evoke memories of blackberries, elderberries, thick blackcurrant jam and wild blueberries, paired with subtle notes of elder wood. Spicy accents of pepper and green pepper give it an appealing fragrance. The fine minerality paired with density already indicates a wine that is harmonious and expressive on the nose.
Taste
Juicy and charming with full-bodied dark berries, it unfolds on the tongue. The soft acidity paired with fine-grained tannins and a beguiling freshness as well as the moderate alcohol content of 11.5 vol% make it, just like all wines from Meinklang, the ideal companion for an exquisite meal - best slightly chilled to emphasise its invigorating qualities.
Food recommendations
Rosemary roasted baby beet with blackberries, sour clover and edible flowers. Smoked trout accompanied by morels, bacon and pomegranate seeds. Beef roulade served with red cabbage and creamy mashed potatoes.
