Wine information
The Majas Rouge is a cuvée of Grenache and Carignan from a vineyard where some of the vines date back to the 1890s. Most of them, however, were planted in the 1980s and the vineyard has been cultivated organically ever since. Located at Caudiès de Fenouillèdes, it is characterised by clay and limestone with some slate. After the hand harvest - the yield was around 40 hl/ha - the grapes were destemmed and fermented spontaneously in stainless steel. The wine was then pressed and matured in stainless steel. It was bottled without fining and filtration with only a little filling sulphur.
Color
Purple red with slight rim brightening
Nose
The Majas Rouge is a typical representative of the French south with its mixture of macchia, garrigue, earth and dry wood as well as violets and notes of blackberries and cherries, especially since a hint of liquorice is added here. Rarer is the freshness that already resonates in the fragrance and whets the appetite.
Palate
On the palate, the red Majas Juicy, fleshy and dark berry, at the same time gentle in the tannin, but clear and lively in the acidity, which makes a successful rendezvous with the fruit. It provides a clear drinking flow and directs the power of the wine towards finesse.
