Nose
The 2020 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine La Grange from Luneau-Papin opens with a magnificent bouquet of white flowers and especially camomile and acacia. Exuberantly floral and soft. Fresh almonds and green walnuts complement a delicately nutty layer. A little pome fruit marches out on quiet paws. Nashi pear and freshly cut Golden Delicous apples present a juicy, fresh fruit character. Wet stones, a hint of sea breeze and oyster shell then make a clear statement about the origin and idea of the wine. Restrained and delicate, nettle and lemon balm can still be detected.
Palate
On the palate, the varietal Melon de Bourgogne shows its enormous depth and precision. The ripeness on the yeast provides a pleasant melt. But only enough to make room for the cool, all-consuming minerality of La Grange. Stony, maritime and salty. The aromas alternate between light fruits and white flowers as well as a few yellow accents. Above all, the saltiness and almond come out clearly. La Grange is pleasantly touching without being overbearing.
