Wine description for the Sulzfelder Berg, Weisser Burgunder Terrassen 2022 from Luckert - Zehnthof

Colour & appearance

In the glass, this Franconian Pinot Blanc presents itself with a clear, brilliant light gold and subtle greenish reflections - a visual promise of the precision that characterises the Luckert winery.

Nose

The nose reveals a Remarkable clarity with flavours of green apple, pear and white flowers. Behind this, mineral notes unfold, which are due to the limestone soils of the Sulzfeld terraces. A subtle spiciness and hints of hazelnut round off the complex bouquet.

Palate

On the palate, the wine has an impressive structure - taut, focussed and with a lively acidity that is never overpowering. The fruit is precisely characterised: ripe pear, quince and a hint of citrus, underpinned by a delicate minerality. The body is medium-bodied, with a creamy texture that harmonises perfectly with the vibrant acidity. The finish is long, clean and characterised by a subtle saltiness.

General information

This Pinot Blanc comes from the terraces of the Sulzfelder Berg, where the vines grow on shell limestone and Keuper. The brothers Ulrich and Wolfgang Luckert cultivate their vineyards with the utmost care and emphasise gentle processing in the cellar. The moderate alcohol content of 13.0% gives the wine balance, while the low residual sweetness emphasises its dry, precise character.

Food pairing suggestions

An ideal companion to Fish dishes like poached pikeperch or Trout miller. Shines just as much with Poultry with light-coloured sauces and Asparagus. The mineral component harmonises wonderfully with Seafoodespecially with Oysters. Also to mild Soft cheeses an excellent choice.

Special features

The 2022 vintage exemplifies what rightly makes the Luckert brothers the rising stars of Franconia. In their interpretation of Pinot Blanc, they combine loyalty to the Franconian terroir with a finesse that is reminiscent of Burgundy models, without losing their own unmistakable signature. A wine from remarkable precisionwhich offers both immediate drinking pleasure and the potential for a further 3-5 years of ageing.
