Juicy and creamy with notes of pineapple and fleshy fruit, imbued with an energetic drive, vibrant liveliness and a mouth-coating shell limestone minerality.
Character
A charming, yet energetic and expressive white wine with fine creaminess and a striking mineral smokiness.
Pairing
Pairs brilliantly with pan-fried prime fish in white cream sauces, creamy sliced veal ragout, or roasted poultry.
Notes
Crafted from vines planted in the 1960s, growing on steep, non-consolidated shell limestone terraces that have never seen agricultural chemicals; fermented and aged in large oak casks with malolactic fermentation.
Tasting note
Colour & Appearance
An intense straw yellow in the glass.
Nose
An exceptionally charming entrée: aromas of perfectly ripe pears, yellow apples and mirabelle plums meet subtly exotic nuances of mango and starfruit. A veil of fine clotted cream is woven through with a striking, stony-smoky note.
Palate
Mouth-coating, juicy and creamy, yet borne by a vibrant, energetic liveliness. On the palate, pineapple and exotic fruit notes emerge even more clearly, underlined by a fascinating, mineral smokiness.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes grow in Sulzfeld (Franconia) on steep, south-southeast facing terraced slopes of the Cyriakusberg. The soil of this upper Muschelkalk (shell limestone) site is extremely stony and rich in skeletal material. The vines date back to the 1960s.
Grape Variety & Vinification
This Pinot Blanc comes from old vines that have always been farmed without synthetic chemicals. Maturation and fermentation, including malolactic fermentation, took place in large wooden casks. As a Naturland-certified estate, the winemaking family at the historic Zehnthof relies strictly on spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts.
Food Pairings
Pairs brilliantly with pan-fried turbot, veal medallions in cream sauce or creamy seafood risotto.
Special Features
The purchase of this unlandscaled terraced vineyard in 2007 was the actual catalyst for Weingut Zehnthof Luckert (VINUM Winery of the Year 2025) to convert entirely to organic viticulture. A spectacular VDP.Erste Lage of historic value.
