Wine Description for Grüner Veltliner 2024 from Meinklang

Colour & Appearance
Pale golden yellow with distinctive green reflections – a classic appearance for a young, fresh Grüner Veltliner from Burgenland.
Nose
Impressively clear and juicy, this Veltliner presents pronounced aromas of apple, apple must, pear and quince. Layered over these are delicate floral notes of linden blossom, yarrow and chamomile, underpinned by a subtle lees character that lends the wine additional complexity. The nose already promises what the palate confirms: an invigorating, uncomplicated pleasure.
Palate
On the palate, the 2024 vintage shows itself to be just as refreshing as on the nose. Bright and yellow fruit dominate, accompanied by a piquant acidity that makes the wine lively and highly drinkable. At just 11% alcohol, it never feels heavy, but rather feather-light – a true quaffer that invites the next glass.
Finish
Medium length with persistent freshness and a fine spiciness typical of the variety. The piquancy on the aftertaste leaves you wanting more.
Terroir & Origin
From the biodynamic estate Meinklang in Burgenland on Lake Neusiedl. The Pannonian climate zone with warm days and cool nights enables optimal ripeness whilst maintaining refreshing acidity.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Grüner Veltliner, Austria’s flagship variety, here in an uncomplicated, highly drinkable interpretation. The subtle lees character suggests maturation on lees, which lends the wine additional texture without compromising its freshness.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal companion to asparagus, green salad with herbs, goat’s cheese, Wiener Schnitzel, steamed fish or Asian dishes with lemongrass and coriander. Also a pleasure on its own on the terrace.
Special Features
A perfect introduction to the world of Grüner Veltliner – accessible, honest, refreshing. The moderate alcohol content makes it an ideal summer wine and proves that great wines need not always be powerful.
