The Forgeurac winery is run by Uwe Lange and Marco Pfliehinger. Marco originally comes from Bühlertal, where the winery also has some of its vineyards. Uwe's cellar is in St. Leon-Rot under the old village smithy. In French, the forge is called "la Forge". Hence the name "Forgeurac"! The other vineyards are near St. Leon-Rot in Rauenberg and in Weinsberg. There is also a small vineyard in the Markgräfler Land. Both in the cellar and in the vineyards, everything is done by hand. They do not own any machines! No tractors, sprayers, pumps or filters! The grapes are pressed on an old basket press. They are drawn off with a hose and drop pressure. The wines are matured exclusively in used wooden barrels. No yeasts, no enzymes, no fining, no filtration, minimal sulphur additions and only when necessary. Wine can be so simple and yet so ingenious.
