Color
A bright purple shows clear and shiny with a violet, slightly translucent rim in the glass.
Nose
Already with its first bouquet this Grenache makes a fact inevitably clear yes, also it revolves around the origin, but this wine is marked by unmistakable handwriting and feels the stylistics Tom Lubbes on the whole line.
Purple and blue blossoms wrestle with wild dark fruit, ranging from sloes, brambles and cranberries to rosehip pulp and damson roast. Currant wood and blackberry leaves are chased through the chopper with moss lichen and young spruce shoots, exuding their fragrance.
That, it must be said, is one of the main tasks of this wine; to exude fragrance.
Palate
On the palate, the 2018 Cuvée Romanissa of Domaine Matassa shows soft curves and sends its dark red, berry fruit through the hall of mirrors, where it can be illuminated from all sides, put in perspective and admired. Satin-like tannin blows in the wind of a cool acidity that animates the dark fruit with a fresh breeze. Entirely juicy, Romanissa pays homage to the colour red in all its glory and, to do it justice, should be drunk no warmer than 15°C.
