Colour & Appearance

A vibrant, juicy ruby red with violet reflections.

Nose

Fresh and straightforward. Clear aromas of Morello cherries, ripe plum and a subtle, spicy note of wild herbs emerge, along with a hint of dark pepper.

Palate

On the palate, the wine presents itself in a wonderfully accessible and lively manner. The dark fruit, typical of the grape variety, is supported by a vibrant acidity. The tannins are velvety and softly integrated. At a slender 12.0% ABV, this Montepulciano scores with remarkable drinkability rather than heavy extraction.

Finish

Medium-length, focused and refreshingly juicy. Notes of redcurrant and a fine, cool minerality linger on the finish.

Terroir & Origin

The vines thrive near Atri in the Abruzzo region, just eight kilometres from the coast, nestled between national parks and the eroded limestone slopes of the Calanchi. On the clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 250 metres, Francesco Cirelli practises holistic farming within a biodynamic cycle alongside geese, olive trees and fig trees.

Grape Variety & Vinification

100% Montepulciano. The wine is bottled unfined, spontaneously fermented and matured in stainless steel and concrete tanks, as well as partially in amphorae. This natural approach breaks with the region’s traditionally heavy style, focusing entirely on freshness.

Food Pairings

A versatile everyday wine that pairs ideally with pasta with salsiccia, classic Pizza Margherita, cured meat platters with Pecorino or, served slightly chilled, with poultry dishes.
