Wine Description for Bourgogne Côte d’Or Blanc AOC 2024 1500ml Magnum by Thomas-Collardot

Character
A classic Burgundy Blanc from the heart of the Côte d’Or – dry, precise and characterised by that unobtrusive depth which only this exceptional landscape can produce. The magnum bottle is far more than merely a format: it protects the wine, slows its maturation and grants it time to develop into a harmonious whole. A wine for patience and curiosity in equal measure.
Terroir & Origin
The Côte d’Or – that narrow, golden strip of limestone-rich slopes between Dijon and Santenay – is regarded as one of the world’s most significant wine regions. The characteristic limestone and clay soils impart a mineral tension and structural elegance to the Chardonnay that is scarcely reproducible elsewhere. The vintage 2024 demanded careful attention and precision from the vignerons – a year that placed craftsmanship above routine.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Chardonnay in the Côte d’Or is no mere grape variety, but rather an expression of place. The estate Thomas-Collardot from Puligny-Montrachet stands for a tradition-conscious, artisanal approach that places terroir at the forefront. One can expect a vinification that preserves freshness and minerality, without concealing the wine behind oak or opulence – entirely in keeping with Burgundian philosophy, where the vineyard has the final say. At 12.5% alcohol, the wine remains light-footed and well-balanced.
Food Pairing Suggestions
A versatile companion for the table. Classically, this Blanc harmonises beautifully with grilled turbot, scallops with beurre blanc or a refined lobster bisque. Equally impressive alongside poultry in cream sauce, a Comté or a mature Époisses. The magnum bottle makes it the ideal wine for a festive dinner in good company.
