Wine Description for Beatrice Boschis Barolo Chinato 500ml by Chiara Boschis – E.Pira & Figli

Character
This noble sweet Barolo Chinato is a liquid legend of Piedmont – named after Beatrice, the next generation of the Boschis family. It displays the perfect balance between the bitter power of Nebbiolo and a masterfully balanced, herb-infused sweetness. On the palate, it presents itself as aristocratic, warming, and with a dense, velvety texture supported by fine bitter notes. A meditative, elixir-like style full of historical dignity.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes for the wine base originate from the prestigious, organically certified vineyards of the E. Pira & Figli estate in the communes of Barolo, Monforte d’Alba, and Serralunga. On these lime- and marl-rich soils of the Langhe, the Nebbiolo achieves the structural power and complexity that is essential as the foundation for this aromatised wine. It is the interplay of artisanal tradition and the unique microclimate of the rolling hills that lends this elixir its sense of place.
Grape Variety & Vinification
The base consists of 100% of the noble grape variety Nebbiolo. Following classic vinification, the Barolo is aromatised and fortified according to a traditional family recipe using cinchona bark (Calisaya), gentian root, rhubarb, and a secret selection of fine spices. Chiara Boschis, the pioneer and “Grande Dame of Barolo”, applies the same uncompromising care here as she does to her celebrated single-vineyard wines – bridging the gap between modern oenology and Piedmontese apothecary tradition.
Food Pairings
A classic soloist for late evenings, which pairs outstandingly with fine dark chocolate (70% cocoa content and above). It also shines as a congenial partner to traditional Piedmontese desserts such as Baci di Dama or warm hazelnut cake, as well as mature, intense blue cheeses.
