Wine description for Nana 2022 from Attis Bodegas y Vinedos
In the windswept coastal region of Rías Baixas, where the Atlantic Ocean beats relentlessly against the rugged shores of Galicia, Attis Bodegas y Vinedos cultivates an Albariño that epitomises the maritime soul of this north-western Spanish landscape. The Nana 2022 is no ordinary representative of this grape variety - rather, it is a tribute to the traditional art of winemaking in the region, paired with a deep understanding of the interplay between terroir and time.
Visual impression
In the glass, the wine presents itself in a bright, pale golden yellow with brilliant reflections reminiscent of the first rays of sunshine dancing over the Atlantic waters in the morning - clear, precise and full of promise.
Nose
The flavour unfolds with an impressive generosity that immediately captivates the senses. Ripe Williams pears with a creamy texture form the aromatic foundation, accompanied by tropical notes of pineapple and the juicy scent of peach and nectarine. The citrus dimension is revealed through nuances of ripe oranges. Behind this, more complex flavours of buttered, slightly salty popcorn and gently roasted hazelnuts weave their way through, while iodine accents subtly testify to the wine's maritime origins - as if the salty sea breeze had been caught for a moment.
Palate
On the palate, the Nana confirms its opulent character with a remarkable juiciness and fullness. The fruit components unfold in a generous symphony, while the long lees ageing with regular battonage imparts a creamy texture that structures the wine and gives it depth. Mineral notes of flint intertwine with subtle wood impressions from the French oak barrels, while orange oil and iodised hints further enhance the complexity. The wine moves with an almost Burgundian elegance, reminiscent at times of a Condrieu from the northern Rhône Valley, but always retains its unmistakable Galician identity - powerful, multi-layered and yet supported by a precise acidity structure that gives it freshness and length.
General information
The artisanal vinification reflects the winery's commitment to quality: after careful manual harvesting and gentle pressing, the must ferments spontaneously with natural yeasts in 225 and 500 litre French oak barrels. The subsequent 12-month maturation on the lees with regular battonage gives the wine its remarkable texture and complexity without compromising its varietal freshness.
Food pairing suggestions
This expressive Albariño calls for dishes that do justice to its complexity. It harmonises excellently with Grilled sea bass in sea salt crust, Lobster bisque or Scallops with citrus butter. Also with rich seafood stew with saffron or Pulpo a la Gallega - the traditional Galician octopus dish with paprika and olive oil - it reveals its full potential. The creamy texture of the wine also makes it the ideal accompaniment to Soft cheese with intermediate maturity.
