Wine information
The Blaufränkisch comes from 30-year-old vines in the Altenberg vineyard in Jois am Leithagebirge. The soils are characterized by lime. Spontaneously fermented and matured for 18 months in 500-litre barrels.

dark purple
Nose
As dark as the wine, as dense and powerful it also shows itself in the aroma. Blackberries, morello cherries and sour cherries come to mind, along with some wild strawberries on a bed of chocolate cake with a fine bitter note. Initially warm, slightly sweet and fruity, the Altenberg with air cooler as well as more floral and reminds more and more of elder.
Mouth
At first, freshly poured, the wine challenges with a young, impetuous acidity, which, however, quickly acclimatizes and fits into the overall structure of this Blaufränkisch. Sour cherries are clearly to be tasted here, and they have also brought along their seeds. The wine has a powdery but concise tannin, is tightly woven, shows cool chalkiness and accompanies one into the long finish.
