Wine description for Sulzfelder Weisser Burgunder trocken 2023 by Luckert – Zehnthof

Colour & Appearance
Sparkling, pale golden yellow with delicate green reflections – a wine that already reveals its youthful freshness and vibrancy in the glass.
Nose
Here the full mastery of Franconian Pinot Blanc art is on display: A subtle hint of struck flint aromaticity, that reductive note otherwise found in great Burgundian wines, lends the wine depth and complexity. The pronounced minerality of the stony terroir soil is unmistakable. With air contact, elegant fruit notes of pear, quince and citrus fruits unfold – multifaceted and layered.
Palate
On the palate, the Sulzfelder presents itself as juicy, refreshing and of remarkable elegance. Delicate green notes – likely from spontaneous fermentation and ageing in large wooden casks – enliven the drinking experience. The invigorating freshness and lively verve make this Pinot Blanc an ideal food companion with substance.
Finish
Long, wonderfully juicy and with lingering minerality – the aftertaste confirms the quality of this wine and invites you to take another sip.
Terroir & Origin
The unrationalised terraced vineyard site on Sulzfelder Berg with its stony, skeletal soil gives this Pinot Blanc its distinctive mineral character. These old vineyard structures produce wines with personality and terroir expression.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Blanc was vinified here with artisanal precision: Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts and ageing in large wooden casks give the wine structure without obtrusive oak notes – a purist approach that puts the grape variety and terroir centre stage.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile food companion to pan-fried white fish, veal schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, poultry in cream sauce or also to mature alpine cheese. The freshness and minerality harmonise beautifully with seafood and sushi.
Special Features
This Pinot Blanc combines Franconian directness with Burgundian finesse – a wine that shows Germany plays on equal terms with the great Pinot Blanc producers. The spontaneous fermentation and traditional ageing underscore the philosophy of Zehnthof.
