Bianco Gentile

The almost forgotten, indigenous grape variety Bianco Gentile is a liquid portrait of its Corsican homeland. It yields wines of considerable richness and an almost creamy texture, characterised by ripe yellow fruits, delicate notes of honey and the ethereal herbal scents of the autumnal macchia. Despite its rather mild acidity, the grape always maintains structure and an inner tension through a fine phenolic grip, allowing it to age superbly. On the island, it is traditionally blended with other historic varieties to perfectly balance its rich aromatics.

How masterfully this interplay can succeed is demonstrated by the Abbatucci estate with its profound Diplomate d’Empire Blanc. In this cuvée, Bianco Gentile combines with Brustiano and Vermentino (Rolle) to create a multi-layered, long-lived white wine that brings the wild beauty and mineral depth of Corsica into the glass.
