Color
Bright straw yellow with green reflections, bright and clear.
Nose
The nose of the 2014 Glimmerschiefer from Weingut Muthenthaler is bursting with citron, lemon zest and fully ripe mirabelles. This initial cascade is solidly underpinned by the aroma of dried apricots, quince bread and beeswax. All this is topped by a slightly ethereal note of brook mint.
Mouth
The nose is yellow fruity and juicy with zesty acidity and a distinctly spicy character. The white of the lemon paired with the acidity of a fully ripe peach and a delicately salty finish make the glass refill quickly. The acidity balances the residual sweetness with subtle tickle on the palate, the minerality owed to the eponymous soils it grew on - mica schist. A nonchalant, residual sweet Riesling as an aperitif or a decidedly long-lasting wine with high potential for bottle ageing.
