About the wine
The 2017 Phaunus Loureiro Aged for seven months in large clay amphorae in a shed without electricity on the lees and on the skins. 6.2 grams of acidity at 3.22 pH and 35 mg of free sulfur.
Color
Very slightly hazy gold-orange
Nose
This mash fermented Loureiro smells intensely of oranges and orange zest including some bitter oranges, of apricots and white blossoms, herbs and spiced tea with a little laurel. In addition, there is a little clayey earth, even something of moist loam and a breath honey.
Palate
On the palate the Phaunus Loureiro a firmness caused by the tannin grip. The wine is almost to chew, so one has the impression. Again, citrusy notes, more in the orange range, herbs and flowers in tea form show up. But all of this is infused with a silky yet tense acidity. With these assets, the wine is an excellent and quite universal food companion, moreover, it seems tonic and lively at its core.
