Jean-Paul Metté, 9 rue des Tanneurs, 68150 Ribeauville, France

This brandy made from Spanish oranges soaked in brandy is one of Jean-Paul Metté's most popular brandies. Aged for at least 6 years in stainless steel tanks, it is used in patisserie to prepare orange compote as well as enjoyed as an aromatic digestif. Tasting note by Pascal Leonetti The colour is brightly transparent. The open, racy nose reveals the heady scent of orange and Grand Marnier. The palate shows great class and reveals a fine expression of citrus, orange and orange peel with perfect persistence. Pascal Leonetti has been sommelier at the classic three-star restaurant l'Auberge de l'Ill in Illhaeusern since 1998. His teacher was Serge Dubs, the legendary world sommelier of the year 1989. In 2006, Pascal Leonetti was also voted the best sommelier in France himself, thanks to his excellent qualifications. His sensory skills are outstanding, for instance, he is able to identify almost all 87 Metté distillates already by smell during blind tastings.
