The vineyard of Geraldine Lacourte and her husband Richard Desvignes is located in Ecueil in the heart of the Petit Montagne de Reims. They concentrate entirely on the 1er Cru sites in this village, which means they have short distances to travel and spend a lot of time in their vineyards. The farm was converted to organic viticulture in 2016. Both have seen a lot of the world and decided late to take over the winery from Geraldine's parents. Geraldine worked for years in marketing in Germany, so the style of the winery is not dusty, but rather modern. The base wines are fermented in stainless steel and don't necessarily make the BSA. Only a portion is aged in barrique. Very clear, precise and taut, they reflect their origin, always characterised by their fine fruit and elegant profundity.
The 2015 Millesime, made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, comes from the Premier Cru site Les Mesneux and lay on its lees for six years before being disgorged on 16 March 2021 and dosed at 3 grams as Extra Brut.
Color
Strong straw yellow, radiant and clear.
Nose
The aroma of the 2015 Millesime Champagne Premier Cru from Lacourte-Godbillon is pleasant and reminiscent of the smell from the bakery at four o'clock the other morning on the way home. There are also distinctive citrus notes that oscillate between zest and candied peel. A handful of roasted nuts and distinctive salty notes round off the aromatic interplay.
Mouth
With a salty tip, all the aroma controls are immediately set to maximum impact, even on the nose. Fleur de sel, oyster shells, lemon zest, dried green mandarin zest, lime zest and smoky salty toasted almonds combine on the palate to create a veritable firework display. The autolysis notes contour this extract-rich and profound play of flavours and offer first-class artisanal Champagne pleasure.
