Wine Description for Lieben Aich DOC 2022 1500ml Magnum by Manincor

Character
The winery Manincor ranks among South Tyrol’s most influential addresses – and the Lieben Aich is an impressive example of what Sauvignon Blanc can achieve in the Alps: precise, distinctive, with a tension between alpine coolness and Mediterranean warmth. The magnum bottle (1500 ml) promises not only slower, more even maturation, but also lends the wine a particular expressiveness over time.
Terroir & Origin
South Tyrol is one of Europe’s most fascinating wine regions – a place where alpine elevation, continental temperature contrasts between day and night, and Mediterranean sunshine combine to create a unique terroir. These thermal contrasts are what give the wines of the Kalterer See and its surroundings their characteristic freshness and depth. Manincor cultivates its vineyard sites with deep respect for this heritage – biodynamically oriented and with a clear commitment to place as expression in the glass.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Sauvignon Blanc finds in South Tyrol one of the most convincing homes outside the Loire or Styria. In Manincor’s hands, the variety is not interpreted as an international mass product, but as a terroir-defined character grape with depth and complexity. The vinification aims for minerality, structure and longevity – qualities that come particularly into their own in the large magnum bottle. With 13.0% vol. alcohol and a dry profile, the wine remains lean and elegant, without lacking substance.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A wine of such precision demands dishes that respect its freshness and minerality. Recommended are goat’s cheese and fresh cheese variations, grilled asparagus with herb vinaigrette, sushi and sashimi as well as scallops with light butter sauce. Also pasta with herb pesto or risotto with peas and mint harmonise wonderfully with the wine’s vibrant acidity structure.
