Wine Description for Le Petit 2021 375ml by Manincor
- Colour & Appearance
- Luminous golden yellow with greenish reflections, shimmering almost amber-like in the glass. The viscosity immediately reveals the high extract content of this noble sweet rarity.
- Nose
- Enchantingly intense and complex: candied apricots, honeydew melon and ripe peaches dominate, underpinned by notes of orange blossom, acacia honey and a hint of exotic fruits such as mango and lychee. This is complemented by a fine ginger spice and a touch of beeswax.
- Palate
- Despite its pronounced sweetness (at only 8.5% alcohol), this wine remains remarkably light-footed and elegant. The racy acidity of the Petit Manseng grape perfectly balances the sweetness and prevents any heaviness. On the palate, apricot jam, candied citrus fruits and honey unfold, paired with a vibrant freshness reminiscent of lime. The texture is creamy yet vibrant.
- Finish
- Long, elegant and characterised by remarkable freshness. The sweetness fades harmoniously, whilst the acidity lingers for a long time and creates a clean, never sticky impression.
- Terroir & Origin
- Manincor is one of the pioneers of South Tyrolean winemaking and manages vineyards on Lake Kaltern. The mild microclimate and lime-rich soils create ideal conditions for this extraordinary sweet wine production.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- The Petit Manseng originally comes from the French Jurançon region and is predestined for noble sweet wines. The grapes are harvested late, partially dried to a raisin-like state to achieve maximum concentration. The low alcohol content makes this wine particularly accessible.
- Food Pairing Recommendations
- Classically with blue cheese such as Gorgonzola or Roquefort, excellent with foie gras, but also with fruity desserts featuring apricots or peaches. Interesting too with spicy Asian dishes or simply as a meditative pleasure in itself.
- Special Features
- The half-bottle size (375ml) is ideal for this concentrated sweet wine. A true rarity in South Tyrol and proof of Manincor’s experimental quality aspirations.
