Wine Description for Langenloiser Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC 2024 by Loimer

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with brilliant clarity – a classic appearance for a young Grüner Veltliner from the Kamptal.
Nose
Here the full aromatic range of the grape variety reveals itself: verbena, mint and alpine herbs set the spicy tone, underpinned by fresh green and yellow apples, lemon and a fine cola nut note. To this is added a mineral component of crushed stone – intense, clear and utterly inviting.
Palate
Taut, precise and equipped with remarkable drive. The vibrant acidity meets a gripping texture with genuine extract and substance. The wine feels cool and mineral, shows itself slightly saline and vibrates with citric and lime-tinged bitterness through to the finish. This combination of freshness and depth makes it a classic representative of its terroir.
Finish
Long, zesty and with persistent minerality. The cool spice remains present, the acidity providing a clear, clean conclusion.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from vineyards around Langenlois, where primary rock and loess characterise the soils. This geological diversity lends the wine its characteristic minerality and complexity – typical of the Kamptal DAC profile.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Selective hand harvest in early to mid-September in 20-kilo crates, slow pressing with whole bunches, partly with skin contact. Spontaneous fermentation, thereafter 70% aged in stainless steel tank and 30% in a large 2,500-litre wooden barrel. Five months on the lees provide additional texture without compromising freshness.
Food Pairing Recommendations
A versatile companion to asparagus with hollandaise sauce, pan-fried zander fillet, Wiener Schnitzel, goat’s cheese or Asian dishes with coriander and ginger. Also an excellent choice with sushi and seafood.
Special Features
A prime example of modern, precise Grüner Veltliner from the Kamptal – fresh, mineral-driven and with the characteristic peppery character of the grape variety. Loimer combines biodynamic philosophy with artisanal precision here.
