Wine Description for Côtes du Rhône Rosé AOC 2024 by Roche-Audran

Colour & Appearance
A seductive pale salmon pink in the glass – the light, almost translucent colour indicates careful handling and elegant style.
Nose
Surprisingly complex for a rosé in this price range. Ripe strawberries and raspberries meet white peaches and grapefruit. Beneath lies a fascinating spicy layer: Provençal herbs, a hint of hemp, mineral notes of stone and a delicate orange zest. The bouquet is lively, yet never intrusive.
Palate
Here the true class of this wine reveals itself. Juicy and silky, it flows across the palate, carried by ripe, white-fleshed fruit. The fine tannin structure – a gift of the saignée method – lends the rosé backbone and depth, without ever feeling heavy. A liquorice-like spice from the Grenache runs through the wine and creates tension. The balance between fruit, structure and freshness is exemplary.
Finish
Medium-length and refreshing, with lingering citrus notes and a mineral echo that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from family vineyards on the north-facing slopes of the hills of Rasteau and Cairanne, between 180 and 250 metres altitude. The clay and limestone soils with marine and alluvial pebbles give the wine its mineral precision and freshness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Grenache – a bold decision that pays off. A combination of saignée method and direct pressing, spontaneous fermentation and six months ageing in concrete tanks. This vinification explains the texture and complexity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Classically with bouillabaisse, grilled tuna or calamari. Excellent also with goat’s cheese salad, vitello tonnato or Asian summer rolls. An ideal terrace wine for balmy summer evenings.
Special Features
This rosé transcends the category of simple summer wine. The combination of traditional savoir-faire and modern vinification creates a wine with unusual depth and structure – a serious rosé that will convince red wine lovers too.
