Wine Description for Château de Pibarnon Rosé AOC 2020 by Château de Pibarnon
- Colour & Appearance
- A brilliant, pale copper with delicate orange-hued reflections.
- Nose
- The bouquet is captivating and complex: Intense notes of sweet peaches and ripe cherries combine with the aroma of apple tart and redcurrant jelly. Floral accents and nuances of dry biscuits and spicy, Mediterranean herbs lend the wine an aristocratic depth.
- Palate
- On the palate, this Bandol presents itself powerfully, structured and yet suffused with brilliant freshness. The enormous fruit richness is balanced by a distinctive Mediterranean spice. It is a wine of considerable substance that far transcends the profile of an ordinary rosé.
- Finish
- The aftertaste is impressively long and crowned by a fine, invigorating bitterness that challenges the palate and stimulates the appetite.
- Terroir & Origin
- The grapes hail from a spectacular amphitheatre facing the sea. The sparse soils of clay, limestone and chalk from the Triassic period define the mineral tension of this wine.
- Grape Variety & Vinification
- A cuvée of 65% Mourvèdre and 35% Cinsault. Whilst the Cinsault was directly pressed, the Mourvèdre comes from the saignée method. Spontaneous fermentation and six months ageing in stainless steel preserve the precision.
- Food Pairing Suggestions
- An excellent food companion to bouillabaisse, a classic pissaladière with anchovies and black olives, or spicy Banon cheese with fennel.
- Special Characteristics
- A benchmark rosé from Bandol that impresses through its structure and longevity – a true vin de garde among rosés.
