It expresses itself in notes of almond croissants and creamy lemon curd. At the same time, however, the Vazart-Coquart also reveals its cooler, chalkier and crisper side on the nose with notes of green apple, lemon zest and a touch of yuzu, crushed stone and fresh herbs.

Wine Description for Brut Réserve Blanc de Blancs L17 Chouilly Grand Cru NV by Vazart-Coquart & Fils

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with a distinctly lively, fine-beaded mousse.
Nose
An aristocratic bouquet that unites the maturity of reserve wines with cool precision. Notes of almond croissants and creamy lemon curd emerge, contrasted by the taut minerality of crushed stone, green apple and a fine, iodine-tinged sea breeze. A hint of yuzu and fresh herbs lends additional complexity.
Palate
On the palate, this Blanc de Blancs presents itself with high elegance and tension. The depth of the réserve perpétuelle bestows volume and hints of white nougat and almond biscuit, whilst the pronounced freshness of salted lemons, candied ginger and stone fruit delivers enormous drinkability. The texture is juicy, precisely structured and concludes in a vibrant, saline finish.
Terroir & Origin
Pure Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyard sites in Chouilly (Côte des Blancs). The vines, averaging 43 years old, are deeply rooted in the characteristic belemnite chalk, which imparts the wine its unmistakable vertical structure and chalky texture.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100 % Chardonnay. A masterful cuvée from the base vintage 2017 (65 %) and 25 % of a réserve perpétuelle begun in 1982. Aged in stainless steel tanks including malolactic fermentation. Disgorged with a dosage of just 3.5 g/l (Extra Brut) to preserve the maritime terroir typicity.
Food Pairing Suggestions
An ideal companion to smoked eel or halibut. Equally excellent with mild Chinese hot pot featuring seafood or classic pan-fried fish with crispy fried potatoes.
Special Features
This Champagne marks the transition to certified organic viticulture and impresses with the rare balance of decades-long solera depth and youthful, chalky brilliance.
