purple with violet reflections
Nose
The first thing you notice about this wine, which is dense in color, is the freshness and airiness in the aroma. There is nothing heavy or overripe. Those who know the wines of Dominik Huber will not be surprised. This almost delicate, floating style in the bouquet has become increasingly clear and unadulterated in recent years. Currants including stems and stalks mix with juniper and mint. A few pickled black olives and garrigue join in.
Palate
The wine has so much soil intensity that you feel like you're licking a slightly electrified piece of shale. This is electrifying, almost stirring; for the wine is incredibly alive and fresh. The dark fruit and tannin of sour cherries along with their pits and black currants along with their stems combine with garrigue from the cool mountain top, resin, washed up dry wood and a juniper note that was already evident in the aroma. What makes the Arbossar is not even the impressive complexity and length in the first place, but the pull on the palate, the drinking flow that is simply fun.
