Nosiola
Also known as: Nusiola (Trentino)
Nosiola is one of the autochthonous grape varieties of Trentino that has long stood in the shadow of international names. Its character lies between restraint and mineral presence – not spectacular, but with substance. The wines often show nutty notes (hence the name, from „nocciola“ – hazelnut), a taut acidity and a subtle fruit that leaves room for development. Rather rare in the dry version, Nosiola is more frequently found as Vino Santo, where the dried grapes become complex dessert wines. Foradori demonstrates with their Nosiola wines that this grape variety can do more than the usual simple everyday wines – if you give it time and attention.
