Genovese

The almost forgotten, autochthonous grape variety Genovese is a hidden treasure of Corsica. Historically closely linked to the island’s Genoese past, this rare white grape brings a fascinating structure to the glass. It captivates with a spectrum of ripe stone fruit, citrus notes, Mediterranean herbs, and warm nuances of saffron and liquorice. On the palate, it presents itself as full-bodied, marked by a creamy texture, smoky warmth, and a deeply saline, stony minerality.

Just how compellingly Genovese shines in combination with Biancu Gentile and Vermentino is demonstrated by Clos Venturi. In cuvées such as the Altare Blanc or the Chiesa Nera Blanc, it unfolds its full power. These characterful wines pair beautifully with grilled sea fish with wild fennel or mature sheep’s cheese.
