Carcaghjolu Neru
Also known as: Carcajolo Nero, Bovale (Italy), Parraleta (Spain)
One of the rarest Corsican grape varieties – originally cultivated in the far south of the island, today a rarity. Carcaghjolu Neru produces dark-skinned grapes that yield surprisingly colour-intensive wines: garnet red, aromatic, with notes of blackcurrant and a spicy note reminiscent of bay leaf and forest. Surprisingly, despite their deep colour, these wines appear rather light – with soft acidity and a herbaceous character.
Clos Venturi cultivates this old Corsican variety and demonstrates how much personality can be found in an almost forgotten grape.
