Brachetto
In Piedmont, Brachetto is most commonly associated with sweet sparkling wines, yet its true fascination unfolds as a dry still wine. In this form, the red grape variety reveals an enchanting perfume of fresh rose petals, bright wild berries and a delicate hint of spice. It is an extraordinarily vibrant, light-red character that captivates with tender tannins, an invigorating acidity and an almost weightless lightness. On the palate it shows itself juicy and thoroughly drinkable, making it the perfect companion to air-dried ham, mild antipasti or simply served lightly chilled on the terrace. Just how wonderfully uncomplicated and yet profound this style can be is demonstrated by the estate Sottimano with the Matè Vino Rosso, which masterfully captures the floral soul and fine spice of the grape.
