Biancu Gentile

The once nearly forgotten grape variety Biancu Gentile is deeply rooted in the wild landscape of Corsica. It produces wines of remarkable texture and aromatic density, carrying the typical perfume of the Corsican maquis with its notes of dried herbs, ripe yellow fruits, and delicate hints of honey. On the palate, the variety is textured and substantial, balanced by a fine, salty minerality and a firm phenolic structure that lends it a long, sinewy finish.

Just how fascinatingly this grape variety can age is demonstrated by the Clos Venturi estate. In sophisticated cuvées such as the ‘Chiesa Nera Blanc’ or the tense ‘Altare Blanc’, Biancu Gentile is blended with its partners Genovese and Vermentino. Here, the creamy richness of the grape meets notes of saffron, liquorice, and wet stones to create a dense, smoky, and warm wine experience.
