Biancu Gentile

Biancu Gentile is one of those forgotten Corsican grape varieties that has only been brought back into consciousness through the persistence of winemakers like Jean-Charles Abbatucci. The grape produces finesse-driven white wines – not loud, not opulent, but with a restrained minerality reminiscent of chalk quarries and salty sea air. It is a variety that demands patience: in the vineyard as well as in the glass.

At Abbatucci and Clos Venturi, it is cultivated in biodynamically farmed vineyards – often as part of traditional Corsican cuvées, sometimes as a single varietal. What distinguishes it: a vibrant acidity that maintains tension even in hot vintages, and a subtle mouthfeel that evokes white blossoms rather than fruit.
