Color
Rich straw yellow with bright reflections.
Nose
The nose bristles with mild spices such as mace, citronella and licorice before cascades of fruit of yellow apples, quince and red peach complete the round table. Distinctive notes of red pepper manifest the Red Slope as its provenance. Candied fruit and rosemary complete the olfactory kaleidoscope.
Mouth
On the nose, the 2016 Pettenthal Riesling Großes Gewächs from Kühling-Gillot is resolute and powerful. It bears witness to the potential that a few years of bottle ripening will bring to light. Meanwhile, it is enormously dense with firm pressure on the mid palate and stands firmly on a saline foundation. The fruit shows mainly in the high extract without any fruit fat around the waist, the acidity neatly paring it down. Immense length with great potential. Who does not like to wait chooses the carafe, preferably upside down, and the large Burgundy goblet.
