Color
The wine shows itself in bright lemon yellow with white-golden reflexes clear and shining in the glass.
Nose
A clear commitment to the two words that make up its name, the essence of this wine is already revealed in its first, briefly reductive, bouquet. It is more clearly than ever a varietal wine filled with pride, and just as crystal-clear about its origin. Citrus fruits from green kaffir lime to orange kumquat cavort in the glass as if it were happy hour at the cocktail bar. Last but not least, the aromas of fresh orange mint, rock candy and sweet pickled ginger, let the mind wander into just such a bar and remind you of a light mojito or gimlet.
Palate
The 2018 Niersteiner Riesling from Kai Schätzel glides across the palate with a razor-sharp edge. In the wake of its chiseling acidity, a juicy green apple dissects itself gleefully into bite-sized slices. Slim and straightforward, this light wine from Rheinhessen with its cute 10.5 %vol stands for casual and uncomplicated wine enjoyment.
