Wine information
With a slope of about 40 % in south-south-west exposure and colorful shimmering phyllite slate, this site is a special solitaire in the middle Rheingau. The vineyards reach up to 300 meters. The high angle of inclination favours the effect of the sun in spring and autumn and reduces the intensity of radiation in high summer. This gives the vines a very unique growth dynamic.
Information on the expansion
100 % Hand harvest, gentle whole cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation with the natural yeasts, 16 months on the full lees in large wooden barrels.
Color
Sparkling golden yellow with clear green reflections.
Nose
The 2019 Hallgarten Hendelberg Erste Lage presents itself open and aromatic with clear fruit reminiscent of mirabelle, vineyard peach, lime, orange and exotic hints such as mango and passion fruit. Clearly recognizable is an herbal and floral scent, which reminds of lemon balm, elderflower and verbena.
Palate
On the palate, it is pleasantly juicy and full-bodied with an accentuated and stimulating acidity. In addition to the fruit notes of the nose, it shows fine tart grapefruit notes and emphatically salty hints. A wine that pleasantly challenges the taster, one can literally chew it, which makes it an excellent companion to culinary delights. Fantastic ageing potential! Absolutely ventilate
