Learn more about our spectacular discovery: a cuvée of jet-black Syrah nurtured in the proven vineyards of 1896 and 1902, enriched with a touch of Viognier and Serrine (also known as Durif), which thrives in the unique soil of black mimatite with magnesium iron mica. After a 24-month ageing process in small oak barrels, an unfiltered bottling with no-sulphite added is carried out.

Looking at the glass, one notices an intense black cherry colour that is almost opaque to the rim.

The senses are emphatically conquered by this wine. Aromas of sloe, blackcurrant and elderberry pair with tar, dark tobacco and charcoal. On contact with the air, black bread, truffle and salmiak join in, perfectly rounded off by the refined notes of freshly brewed coffee. This sensational Côte Rotie impresses with its strong power and deep intensity in which one can lose oneself.

On the tongue, the 2018 Côte Rotie "Coteaux de Basson" reveals its youthful freshness with tangy acidity and a ripe, still youthful tannic structure. Its earthy, powerful appearance underlines its impressive ageing potential. This is a wine that has a passion for dark, fruity flavours in the dishes that accompany it. Classic French cuisine will certainly do it justice.

Instead of the traditional recommendations of pheasant "souvaroff" and saddle of hare with rouennaise sauce, carrots and celeriac puree, we suggest a delicious coq au vin or a rich boeuf bourguignon to bring out its flavours. For a cheese accompaniment, a Saint-Marcellin with dried plums would be excellent, or why not try a creamy Camembert with cranberry compote. You will certainly not forget this gastronomic experience in a hurry.
