Information about the wine:
This sparkling wine comes from the Artadi winery in Guipúzcoa, Basque. There, the center of Txakoli production is located directly at the Atlantic coast. This local wine, made of the Hondarribi Zuri and Hondarribi Beltza varieties, is famous in the Basque Country, but beyond that, it is rare to find. The usual Txakoli is a slightly effervescent, dry and fresh wine. However, Artadi vinifies a vintage sparkling wine from the Txakoli grape varieties according to traditional methodwhich was on the yeast for three years.
Color:
pale straw yellow
Nose:
This sparkling wine from the Basque Country shows its Atlantic origin from the start. Notes of green apples and pears mix with yellow and green citrus notes, with salty breeze and wet stone. In the background there is fresh cake batter just starting to rise. On top of that, you can sense a hint of sweetness and oxidation. It's as if among all the crisp apples and pears there's also a yellow one that's burst open. Notes of lemon balm and mint creep in quite incidentally.
Mouth:
On the palate the Izar Leku from the beginning neat pressure on the palate. Here, too, everything is designed for freshness. On freshness and fineness, to put it more precisely. Because the long expansion sur lattes delivers a fine mousseux. Besides the aromas of citrus and pome fruit, one also finds pure blue and a hint of lime, tannin, tobacco and the tart fresh aspect of salt lemon. Yes, just the slightly salty, perfectly integrating note puts the icing on the cake of this successful sparkling wine, during the enjoyment of which one involuntarily wonders why no one known before has vinified such a sparkling wine from Hondarribi Zuri and Hondarribi Beltza.
