Color:
Dark purple in colour with a violet rim and opaque core, the wine shows clearly and brilliantly in the glass.
Nose:
Dark, almost mysterious, this pure Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero comes along. Dark aromas of plum jam, noni juice and cranberries, as well as a touch of rum pot, meet game or gingerbread spices such as clove, allspice, nutmeg and juniper berry. This is harmoniously joined by just the right amount of animality. Just so-so stables, just so-so leather and just so-so beechwood smoke give the wine a deep soul. Nevertheless, the Crianza hardly suggests heaviness in its dense aroma.
Palate:
The power of the 2015 Callejo of the Bodegas Felix Callejo from the Sotillo de la Ribera shows itself spicy rearing, but not at all overloaded or melancholic. Also on the palate, the wine shines through its unmistakable originality in harmony with, modern-looking, precision. Juicy and supported by fresh acidity, it packs all the spice into a mouthful of wine and leaves room for vitality. A framework of ripe yet pithy and persistent tannin holds everything together and provides the necessary pressure.
